An achieved status is something that we have achieved through decision making.Here is in my opinion some my achieved status


Exam results-Work hard to achieve grades

National titles-my choice to race and work towards achieving titles even if it doesn't always work.

Personal fitness-same as above,work with commitment.

Financial sum-achieved through inheriting.

Musical achievements-working hard

Horses achievements-working hard

An ascribed status is a status that you are born with or one that you will automatically follow due to the society you live in.


Female-It is the name given to our gender that in thoery cannot be changed.However some may say that our gender is based on how we live our lives,eg someone could be very tomboyish and could choose to like more like a male when they are female.

White-It is the colour of our skin

Scottish-The Nationality we are born with but but this could be argued that it could be achieved as well as ascribed because one could choose to live by the culture of another country,eg celebrating occasions of another country.

Class- A position that people give you according to your background it can be changed by the grades that you get and the job you end up in,you can end up higher than what you were or lower in class.This could be based on your income and the people you are involved with.

School Pupil-A position that was given to me due to the society we live in.

Financial sum- Was given by family not earned but it could be earned depending on how well you do in Qualifications that enable this.



Norms are what we regard as normal in our society because of the way we have been brought up. eg One may regard going out drinking to get drunk as a norm due to the standards they live by.However someone of a higher class would go out for a sociable drink.This is because of the way they have been brought up and the reputation they have to keep up.
